Tough Little Girl!!!
Almost a week ago we experienced a bit of unwanted excitement here at the house. Samantha fell down the stairs and broke her leg. She was climbing up with a few toys looking for Mom and Tyler who had just come up to help Tyler use the toilet. While they were in the bathroom, Celestie heard the sound of falling toys and then a very loud thump, followed by a long scream and crying at the bottom of the stairs.
Celestie took Samantha in to the emergency room at the hospital so a doctor could examine and take some x-rays. The hospital staff didn’t see any breaks in the x-rays so they were sent home. After a few days having gone by, Samantha had developed a very noticeable limp in her walk. At this point we decided to take her to see the pediatrician. After another thorough exam, we left with the Dr. office with a prescription for Advil over the next couple of days.
Well today, Celestie, who has been carefully monitoring Sam’s condition, noticed that her limp appeared to be getting worse. Celestie called a friend from church who is an orthopedic surgeon to see if he would take the time to look Sam over. When they arrived at his office, he carefully looked over her original x-rays and found a hairline crack above her knee and decided to put her in a cast for the next three weeks. Here she is sporting her new purple cast. Surprisingly, she has adjusted to it well so far and is acting very tough about the whole ordeal. It didn’t take her very long to figure out how to walk with it on.
