A recap of the past few months...
Sorry we haven’t posted since April. We’ve all been pretty busy getting ready for baby #3. Over the past few months we went out on our usual outings to include an annual trip to pick strawberries at the local berry farm and something new as we went mullet watching at a race in Petersburg. We also completed some home improvement projects to include newly installed kitchen countertops, painting the kitchen, and new carpet throughout the entire house. We moved Tyler and Samantha into the same bedroom and after many weeks we are still waiting for their new bedroom furniture to come in. The nursery is almost completed. If you weren’t aware, Celestie is scheduled to deliver the baby via caesarean on the morning of August 7th. Here are a ton of pictures from the past few months. Enjoy!
Birthday party...
Tyler went to a classmate’s pre-school birthday party. It was Tyler’s first birthday party and he had a blast. It was a pirate themed party and they hired a clown to come and do some neat tricks. Of course, Tyler asked the clown to make him a pirate sword out of a balloon.

Sandbox…
Samantha loves to play in the garden and the sandbox. We always find her with a small shovel in the corner of the garden digging around. She has Celestie’s green thumb for sure. She’ll play in the sandbox for long periods of time and when she’s finished you can be certain sand is everywhere. It usually takes two or three hair washings to remove all the sand from her hair.
A week of summer sports camp…
For a week in early June, Tyler spent the mornings at Robious during a youth summer camp for children his age. The club arranged a number of fun games and activities that included basketball and swimming. The young ladies that run the camp do a great job with the kids and Tyler was excited to go every morning.
Tennis training...
Kris tries his hand at teaching Tyler how to play tennis...it didn’t last very long. Training for Wimbledon (grass courts)
A day at the pool…
Here are some pictures from a recent trip to the pool. Tyler is getting very comfortable in the water now. This is the first year that he actually went in the water by himself and we’ve found that if we let him explore the depths a little he doesn’t get too scared. Samantha is still getting used to the water but she happily plays around the edges where the water shoots up from the ground.

Easter...
These pictures are from Easter. The kids participated in an Easter egg hunt at church and got to play on a huge blow up slide. One of the older girls took Samantha down the slide a few times. Both Tyler and Samantha had a great time. Kris even took a ride down before it got too crowded.
Kris turns 31!!!
We decided to go bowling as a family for Kris’s birthday and we all had a great time. No bowling balls were dropped on any of our toes!

Drag racing event...
Kris, Tyler and Grandma Jeannine (Kris’ Mom) went to a professional drag racing event at the Virginia Motor Sports Park in Dinwiddie, VA. It was the first and probably last time they go. Seriously, it was a unique experience to watch some of these cars race down the strip. The cars were extremely loud, but the cars designed to use alcohol were the loudest. It rocked your entire body as they sped past. Ear protection is a must if you ever make a trip to watch some drag racing. Tyler enjoyed it but was scared at first from the cars being so loud. It doesn’t take too long to get used to the sound.

Countertops...
Well, we finally have new kitchen countertops. This is something we’ve been talking about doing for a number of years now. We decided to install them ourselves and Kris and I was surprised how easy the process was. Kris took the existing measurements over to Lowe’s and someone helped him quote out the materials and style we liked. They delivered it about a week later. What a difference it made in the kitchen. I no longer have to bleach my countertops daily. We even changed the wall color.

Chesterfield Berry Farm...
We spent the day at the Chesterfield Berry Farm. We love going here for berries in the spring and to pick pumpkins in the fall. It’s a family tradition now and we’ve been going for the last few years. Tyler shot a paintball gun this time (with Kris’ help), we all took a tractor train ride, and shot strawberries out of a cannon. Samantha chickened out on a pony ride so Tyler took her place and then we proceeded to pick a ton of strawberries.

A day at the Richmond Zoo...
The Richmond Zoo is a great place to take kids for an hour or so. It’s wide open and they get to run around and see so much. The past two years we purchased annual passes and visit often. Tyler’s new favorite spot is the area where you can hand feed the goats, cows, and sheep. I personally like being able to get close up to the giraffes and feeding them is pretty cool as well. Samantha likes to walk around and point at all the animals and we teach her how to pronounce the names. Tyler always makes sure we visit the artificial bat cave before we leave. It always smells in there and it’s hard to see the bats due to the extreme low light. We can’t forget to bring quarters as the kids always ask to hop on the little Noah’s Ark ride for fifty-cents.
