Reflecting on our 2010…

Wow! What a year 2010 was for us. We can’t believe that 2010 has come and gone and February 2011 is already here.

We were pretty busy last year with relocating to Colorado. We moved a week before Christmas 2009. Thanks to all of our Virginia friends and family for making our move a little bit easier. I want to especially THANK my DAD! He flew out to VA and drove one of two 27ft moving trucks and towed our car to Colorado then helped unpack both trucks! Kris drove the other 27ft truck and Celestie drove the van with the precious cargo (our kids). It took us 3 days and 2 nights to get to Colorado. Once we arrived we had a ton of help from our new church friends to help unload both large trucks. What a job!

So far we love Colorado and don’t regret the move. We do miss our friends and Kris’s parents in Virginia.

Here’s how our year went.
  • Had to adjust to the altitude. We live at 6,400ft, higher than Denver!
  • We enjoyed a few winter storms and playing in the snow with the kids
  • Kris logged close to 100k air miles traveling from Denver to California, Texas, Virginia, Missouri, New Mexico and Louisiana
  • We enjoyed visits from Imanda (Celestie Niece), Will & Rosario (Celestie’s brother and his fiancé), BJ & Hank, Kim, Steve and Ashley, Gretchen and her kids (all friends from Virginia) and Celestie’s Mom and Denny (from San Diego)
  • The kids and Celestie drove down to Pueblo (hour and a half south of Castle Rock) to visit her 90 year old grandmother.
  • Meet new cleft team in Denver and Joshua is doing really good. His lip looks amazing! He will have a year visit with the cleft team soon.
  • Family road trip to Walt Disney world and visited with Kris’s brother Jeremy and his family in Georgia on way down to Florida
  • Purchase and moved into our new home in Colorado!
  • Kris and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary
  • Samantha turned 3 years old in July
  • Joshua turned 1year in August
  • Tyler and Samantha took swimming lessons at our neighborhood pool
  • Tyler is in Pre – K and Samantha stared pre-school they both love school!
  • Celestie and her sister Pam on a marathon canning day. Peeled over 200 apples in one afternoon! They canned a TON of apple butter and apple sauce.
  • We participated in the Denver Race for the cure as a family in memory of Karen Olson and in honor of Connie Gleason, Kathy Stockton, Grandma Shirley Gentzler and cousin Shirley Miller
  • Explored the Colorado outdoors with lots of hiking and a family camping trip
  • Family road trip to Las Vegas and San Diego to see Celestie’s family
  • Enjoyed a few months with Kris’s Dad while he was working in the Denver area
  • Enjoyed spending time with family in Colorado.
  • Tyler turned 5 years old in November

We have a lot to be thankful for in 2010 and hope that 2011 is as good, if not better than 2010.
