Day trip to the beach...

On Tuesday we hit the beach and a few sights in Virginia Beach. Our first stop was to the VA Aquarium and Science center. We spent a couple hours here walking around and looking at the various exhibits. The aquarium actually consists of two separate buildings, one of which is located about a 10 minute walk up a nice trail. The aquarium has a nice variety of sea life. Probably the most exciting was watching the sharks and stingrays in one area and then the river otters in another spot. There is an IMAX theater onsite but we skipped that for another future visit. All in all it was a nice place, but we’d recommend to anyone wanting to go to in the near future, wait for the renovations to finish first.

We took a nice leisurely drive down Atlantic Blvd and Celestie and I were pleasantly surprised to see the area much cleaner and revived since our last real visit almost eight years ago. We found a place to park and crossed the street to head on into the beach area. A nice breeze was blowing which made for a comfortable time in the sand and under the sun. Samantha had no interest in being in the water but she played with the sand and watched the waves roll in. Tyler was more brave and after some time was jumping around in the small waves about waist deep.

Our 10 mintue walk to the other building.

Tyler crashed on the way to the beach.

Samantha's beach ball kept blowing away.
